Our fees, listed before you book.
Every fee is below. If you have a current GP or Nurse Practitioner referral, Medicare rebates apply on top. The exact gap depends on your eligibility and the item number billed at the consult. Call us if you want a specific figure for your situation.
Important
Payment is required in advance for all appointments.
Fees are listed by appointment type. Adult ADHD assessments run across multiple appointments and are listed as a single combined fee. Follow-ups, one-off consultations and Mental Health Nurse / Nurse Practitioner sessions are listed separately.
Updated May 2026. We'll update this page if any fee changes.
- Payment in advance. Payment is required prior to every appointment, including follow-ups.
- Card only. Visa, Mastercard or American Express. A small merchant fee applies. We don't accept cash.
- Medicare rebates apply with a current GP or Nurse Practitioner referral. We process the rebate for you at the consult.
- Rebates are estimates only and depend on referral type, eligibility, consultation duration, the item billed and the psychiatrist's clinical judgement. The Medicare Safety Net, DVA arrangements, third-party funding, payment processing fees and cancellation fees are not included in the gap estimates above.
- WorkCover accepted. We see WorkCover-funded patients with a current and valid referral. CTP and medico-legal patients sit outside our scope.
- Private health funds don't cover outpatient psychiatry. They only cover inpatient admissions, which is a different pathway.
- Cancellations: two business days' notice, or a fee applies. Full detail on the clinic policies page.
- Not a crisis service. Outcome Health Psychiatry & Mental Health Services is a private service and is not a crisis service.
Frequently asked
Common questions, answered before you book.
Do I need a referral?
To see the psychiatrist, yes. A current GP or Nurse Practitioner referral is required, both for the consult itself and for Medicare to pay a rebate. Mental health nursing appointments are different. You can book those directly with no referral.
How long is the wait for a first appointment?
Typically 3 to 4 weeks for a first in-person assessment. Telehealth review slots are usually available the same week. We hold capacity for urgent referrals.
Will my GP get a report?
Yes. Unless you ask us not to, we send a consultation letter to your nominated GP after every visit. Shared care is how we work by default, but you can opt out at any time.
Can I keep seeing you long-term?
Yes. Most patients move to a 3–6 month review cycle with shared-care prescribing through their GP. We support continuity of care indefinitely.
How are fees paid?
We are a cashless clinic. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, with a merchant fee applied where relevant. Payment is required prior to your first appointment. Where you have a valid GP or Nurse Practitioner referral, we process the Medicare rebate on your behalf at the time of consultation.
Does private health insurance cover my appointments?
No. Outpatient psychiatry and specialist consultations are not covered by private health funds. Your fund covers inpatient psychiatric admissions only, which is a different pathway.
Do you accept WorkCover claims?
Yes. We accept WorkCover-funded patients with a current and valid referral. CTP and medico-legal patients sit outside our scope. Please discuss alternatives with your GP.
What's the cancellation policy?
We need at least two full business days' notice to cancel or reschedule without a fee. Inside that window, 50% of the fee applies. For a no-show, the full fee is charged. Full detail is on our clinic policies page.
Is telehealth available?
Your first appointment is preferably in person at our Melbourne clinic. Review consultations can be telehealth across Victoria, which works well for ongoing care and medication review.
Where is the clinic located?
Ground Floor, 1 Chapel Street, Blackburn VIC 3130. In the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, easy to reach from the Eastern Freeway and the Belgrave or Lilydale train lines, with on-street parking nearby. Full directions are sent in writing when your appointment is confirmed.
Do you bulk-bill?
No. We are a private specialist clinic. A Medicare rebate applies for most psychiatry consultations with a valid GP or Nurse Practitioner referral, but there will be an out-of-pocket gap. We publish the full fee schedule above so there are no surprises.
Can I see the psychiatrist for an urgent appointment?
We aren't set up for crisis or urgent psychiatric care. If you're in crisis, please contact your GP, Lifeline (13 11 14), or attend your nearest emergency department.
Do you see under-17s?
No. We specialise in adult psychiatry, including transition-age young people aged 17 and over moving across from paediatric services.
Can I bring a support person?
Yes. You're welcome to bring a partner, parent, or trusted support person to your assessment.
What pathology do you need before my first appointment?
Your GP will arrange current bloods, an ECG, and a urine drug screen. If anything comes back abnormal, your GP manages that first before we book you in.
Who do I see at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is a 60 to 90 minute consultation with one of our Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. They take your health history and complete intake screening. You then see one of our psychiatrists at a separate appointment for diagnosis and a treatment plan.
When do I pay?
Payment is required prior to your first appointment. We are a cashless clinic and accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
